3 ways to wear color in your basic outfit

Like you guys may know, I tend to wear more basic colors. What can I say, I Love some neutrals. Firstly, If you take a look at my closest you will find more primary colors like, black, blue, whites, and beige. However, there was a time that you could have seen me in all the colors of the rainbow. I didn’t know exactly the correct ways to wear color and to make it work for me. But the older I got, I’ve noticed a huge change happening in my personal style. Nowadays neutrals make me feel chic, sophisticated, bold, and easygoing at the same time. But most importantly, my entire wardrobe is perfectly curated, and that works so well!

However, in Spring and Summer, I can quite enjoy a touch of color. And to clarify, I really mean a touch of color 😊. For me, those are colors like reds, navy, greens, french blue, pastel, yellow, and orange. These are my secondary colors. In other words, Colors that (if it’s done right) can elevate a basic outfit and makes my skin color pop without it being too much. Ok, You may be thinking, well that’s nice for you Suyen, but what are the correct ways to wear color?

There isn’t …

Firstly, there isn’t! Not really anyway! When it comes to personal style we can’t speak about good or wrong ways. Either you like an outfit or you don’t! What’s important is how it makes you feel! If looking like a bag of skittles is your thing, please keep on doing it! Fashion is unique and supposes to be fun right? But if you are more like me, a classic kinda woman. Or you’re clueless on how to mixed and match more color in your outfits. I’ve got you! In this post, I will share with you my favorite ways to wear color and how easily I incorporate this in my normally so basic wear.

The easiest way I like to add a bit of color to my outfit is by adding a small piece of accessories like a bag, scarf, or even shoes. For instance, the bag is simple but in a bold orange color. And like I mentioned before orange is part of my secondary color palette.

I call this my go big or go home type of color adding 😁. The base outfit is still in primary colors. But adding one larger piece in this secondary color automatically created a completely different feel. My top is now the central focus of the look, but because of the primary colors around it, everything is still uniformed.

I must confess this by far my favorite way of styling bold colors. Adding it as an extra layer. I love the simplicity of the look, classic but on-trend. And without any hard thinking, you’ve created a beautiful outfit. The endless ways you can play with this one, think in all the gorgeous pastel pinks and blues for spring.
